St. Augustine Art Association
The St. Augustine Art Association has been promoting excellence in the arts since 1924. Located in the Historic District of the nation's oldest city, the Association produces monthly juried exhibits of works by emerging and professional artists as well as the annual Thanksgiving Art & Craft Festival. The art gallery serves as the community's cultural hub, housing a collection of "Lost Colony" art and providing a gathering place for workshops, lectures, children's programs, concerts and special events.

MAY 6 - 29 / 2016 CANVAS, CLAY, COLLAGE AND CUTTING EDGE
Juried. Four themes combine in one exhibit. This edgy installation explores and pushes the boundaries of materials and ideas. Canvas, Clay, Collage may be any subject. Cutting Edge may be any material.

CONCERT AND ART HONORING ANNIVERSARY OF SISTERS OF ST. JOSEPH
May 22 - CONCERT - "Brave Women: 150 Years of Courage," is a concert and reception honoring the 150th Anniversary of the Sisters of St. Joseph. The performance by Cantorae St. Augustine takes place on Sunday, May 22, 3 p.m. at 22 Marine Street.

Cantorae St. Augustine is best known for singing monthly vespers at the Mission Nombre de Dios. Director Mary Jane Ballou, a specialist in chant and polyphony, has crafted a rich program of songs, readings and images to highlight the nuns' arrival and good works in St. Augustine during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The musical journey spans centuries to include Latin, French and English chants, spirituals and even Stephen Foster. Many of the Sisters will be in attendance to meet and greet the audience. May 26 -29 EXHIBITION - An exhibition of original works of art produced by the Sisters of St. Joseph over decades will be featured in the gallery, May 6 - 29. The display includes paintings, icons, pottery, hand painted porcelain, lace, basketry, tapestries and more.

ART OF WINE-MAKING SHORT COURSE
The class meets for three Tuesdays, April 12 - 26, 2016, 6:30 to 8 p.m. The cost is $35. Must be 21 years old to enroll. Free parking is available throughout downtown after 5 p.m. daily. To register, call the St. Augustine Art Association at (904) 824-2310.

The long awaited beautification project has been realized!

The new outdoor art space at the St. Augustine Art Association features an expanded entry landing on Charlotte Street; ADA pathways leading to Sculpture Garden Ponds; Coquina Fountain; Benches; Native Plantings; New Signage and Lighting; Gathering space in the Exploration Plaza and Enzo Torcoletti's newly installed "Heavenly Bodies" sculpture and Braille marker.

Drake's Raid Exhibit

ART y FACTS of DRAKE'S RAID

A permanent installation of artifacts unearthed below the North Gallery wing of the St. Augustine Art Association showcases evidence of Drake's Raid on the Spanish town in 1586. This commemorative St. Augustine 450th Anniversary legacy project was produced in part through a grant from the Florida Humanities Council. Visit soon!
