The St. Augustine Art Association has been promoting excellence in the arts since 1924. Located in the Historic District of the nation's oldest city, the Association produces monthly juried exhibits of works by emerging and professional artists as well as the annual Thanksgiving Art & Craft Festival. The art gallery serves as the community's cultural hub, housing a collection of "Lost Colony" art and providing a gathering place for workshops, lectures, children's programs, concerts and special events.

ART ASSOCIATION BLENDS CUTTING EDGE ART WITH COLONIAL HARP
Four art exhibitions, a Colonial harp concert and an art awards reception combine to make a special Romanza Mother's Day event at the St. Augustine Art Association on Sunday, May 12, beginning at 3 p.m. Mary Jane Ballou and friends celebrate 250 years of Colonial music with a blend of Irish, Spanish and English songs on harp, violin and vocals. Following the hour-long concert, awards for outstanding artistic achievement will be presented for the juried "Cutting Edge" exhibition on display in the Main Gallery.
On exhibit in the South Gallery is a preview of more than 200 works from the "Ancient City 450th Mosaic," a community collaborative art project. A special installation of stained glass windows created by national artists from the American Glass Guild is also featured in the gallery corridors along with a Florida Quincentennial exhibit entitled "What Flows From Spain," held over in the Marguerita Phillips Gallery.
EXPRESSIVE PAINTING TECHNIQUES - FROM REALISM TO ABSTRACT
June 1 & 2, 9am to 4pm
An experimental workshop exploring expressive painting techniques for acrylics, watercolors and mixed-media. Using layers to create vivid images, professional artist Steve Fleming will demonstrate methods for re-interpreting representational subjects with a loose expressive painting approach. Students may work from personal journals, sketches and photographs.

CELEBRATING SPANISH HERITAGE extended through June 3
The St. Augustine Art Association celebrates Florida's Quincentennial with "What Flows from Spain" exhibition by Cuban-American artist Elio Beltran.
The collection includes several large-scale narrative works featuring historical imagery of our cultural ties with Spain.

A permanent installation of artifacts unearthed below the North Gallery wing of the St. Augustine Art Association showcases evidence of Drake's Raid on the Spanish town in 1586.
