Call for Artists:
St. Augustine History Festival

Appearances by Local Artists Inside the Villa Zorayda Museum

The Villa Zorayda Museum is looking for 8 artists to be part of their itinerary for the St. Augustine History Festival, May 10th – 13th, 2023

Two artists will be scheduled each day and will be stationed inside the Museum’s main area, the “Court of Lions.” This will allow Museum visitors to view the artists as they paint their works of the Villa Zorayda. We will invite guests to experience art in real time, just as Henry Flagler commissioned artists to paint at his Ponce de Leon Hotel in the late 1800s to entertain his guests! Our goal is to bring another level of enjoyment to our guests’ tour, as well as promote St. Augustine’s talented local artists.

Information for Artists

Artists may bring business cards to promote themselves if guests are engaging with them.

You will be inside the Museum. Please be courteous of your delicate surroundings.

No food or beverages, except for water, are allowed inside.

Please keep your setup small and include a small drop cloth for underneath your working area.

For oil painters: odorless mineral spirits only.

Artists will be scheduled from 11:00am - 2:00pm each day. If you wish to stay later, you may stay until 4:30pm, when the Museum begins closing.

Complementary parking is available at the Museum while you work. Please make sure to obtain a parking voucher from the Villa Zorayda staff to avoid being towed.

Sell your art! If artists choose to sell their artwork, the Villa Zorayda Museum can facilitate the transaction. To cover credit card fees and packaging, the Museum will receive a 10% commission. The Museum may also be interested in purchasing your artwork for resale or make payment to the artists once the paintings have sold. Sales tax of 6.5% will be added to the price of each painting.
