Join the St. Augustine Art Association for an afternoon of poetry made into music!
Abigail Dyer is a historian of Renaissance and Baroque Europe by training, and a classical singer by profession. She translates poetic German operas and art songs into singable, poetic English for her audiences. She aims to provide more than just an intuitive grasp of music — but an appreciation of the beauty, charm and wit in poetry that attracted the composers in the first place.
In this Sunday afternoon recital, Abigail Dyer, accompanied by Curtis Powell on piano, will bring to life Beethoven’s To the Distant Beloved (An die fern Geliebte) and the beloved Schubert songs The Trout (Die Forelle), The Elf King (Der Erklonig) and Faith in Spring (Fruhlingsglaube).
