Learn to Love Watercolor

This Valentine’s Day weekend, learn to love painting with watercolor!
Designed for beginners, this one-day workshop introduces the techniques, materials and vocabulary of watercolor painting. LuAnn Dunkinson, President of the Jacksonville Watercolor Society, will introduce the nuances of painting with different surfaces, brushes and pigments. Then, using the basic fundamentals of shape, line and color, you’ll learn to paint a wild rose floral in celebration of Valentine’s Day!
Whether you’re looking to express your love through art or get creative with that special someone, this workshop will teach you the basics of painting with watercolor — and you’ll leave with a new work of art, ready to gift or to display!
Drawing the Face & Figure like Charles Bargue

Discover how a 19th-century drawing course — taken by artists like Vincent Van Gogh and Pablo Picasso — can elevate your own skills!
In this two-day workshop, instructor Dara Dodson will lead you through the rich history and techniques of a drawing method introduced by Charles Bargue. A renowned French artist and lithographer, Bargue created a rigorous curriculum that became a cornerstone of classical art education and has influenced artists for generations.
Using Charles Bargue’s iconic plates and figure drawings as reference, learn how to accurately replicate complex images onto paper with charcoal — focusing on proportion, perspective and value. Discover how to divide the face and figure into different parts for accurate drawing, and how to use shading techniques to create depth and dimension. Then, using one of your own photos, you’ll apply these new-found skills into drawing a highly-detailed, realistic portrait.
Through step-by-step guidance, you’ll learn to capture what you see — whether from photos or from nature — with a lifelike accuracy!

Do you know who you are as an Artist?
Dive into the world of the “Artist Archetype” — the timeless pattern of creative behavior that has shaped human expression throughout history. Led by Life Journey Artist, An Marshall, this one-day workshop will help you uncover the strengths and blind spots of the artist within you, and examine how this embedded blueprint shapes your personal creative journey.
Through guided introspection, this workshop will take a look at your artistic process, the work you create, and the person you are as an artist in the world.
Using mixed media collage techniques, Marshall will lead you in creating a visual representation of your Archetype or unique “Artist” identity — allowing you to express and explore the essence of who you are in a tangible, meaningful way.

In this two-day workshop, award-winning artist Gail Beveridge will guide you through the basics of composition and concept to create your own visual narrative. Through an exploration of master artists’ techniques, demonstrations and thoughtful critiques, you’ll learn how to capture observations in a painting — and how to make it uniquely your’s!
Let go of perceived constraints, step outside your comfort zone, and embrace experimenting with free expression. Discover how to create a compelling composition, and begin leaving your personal mark on every piece of art you create!

Needle Felting Mini Landscapes

In this beginner-friendly workshop, students will learn the fundamentals of needle felting — from choosing the right wools for your project to creating unique color blends and shapes.
With the instruction of Liz Canali, an award-winning fiber artist, you’ll begin designing a mini landscape inspired by this month’s Miniature Marvels exhibit. From creating a background sky and foreground to adding in the finer details, this three-hour workshop will teach you how to felt your very own miniature work of art!
