The surreal environments and juxtaposed elements induce a thoughtful and curious approach to the images. "Darkness Flees" uses metallic and iridescent colors to highlight the heavenly beings entering into Boulder Valley, Colorado. Additional angelic troops are seen in the distance, covering the mountains all the way to the Continental Divide, ready and waiting to be called into the skirmish. The eternal battle between darkness and light is symbolized through the use of color, shimmering highlights and deep shadows.
