  • Peace

Oil by Briana Serna ⏤ 14 in x 11 in, Framed
"Saturday afternoon in Saint Augustine can get a little busy, to say the least. After an hour or so of struggling to find parking in and around the downtown area, I finally decided I'd get out into nature and away frm the crowds instead. I drove out to Anastasia State Park, where I came upon this beautiful, serene landscape of dunes and seawater. Silent spoonbills sifted their beaks in the sand, their pink feathers dotting the horizon. Chevrons of pelicans graced the sky. I listened to the beeze, rustling grasses and leaves, and the chittering legs of little crabs that scuttled all around. I enjoyed this peaceful afternoon in harmony. I feel that the salty wind, teh sun's sweltering rays, the calm, the gentle life, had all replenished my soul. The welcoming sanctuary of nature must not be forgotten in our busy days."

  • Wise Magnolia

Oil by Briana Serna ⏤ 11 in x 14 in, Framed
"Walking through the streets of downtown Saint Augustine, I couldn't help but stop at this magnificent tree. It stands at the North end of Charlotte Street, watching over the bustling life that takes place below. Who knows how long it has been there, but it looks ancient, and wise. Painting it led me to contemplate all the moments it must have seen over its years. In just one day painting it, I saw people get ready for a wedding, families enjoying an afternoon stroll, people on their way to work, visitors in tiny cars buzzing around town, shopkeepers tending to their buildings, food service workers taking a rest after a long shift, and a delightful medley of animals enjoying the sunny day. I'd bet that magnolia tree could write volumes."
