  • Matanzas River Swamp Bowl

Swamp Cedar with Epoxy Resin by Dale Peterson (8 in. x 12 in.)
"Only naturally shed driftwood is used. Hard carved. There is a form to be found in many pieces of naturally shed swamp forest trees and their branches or roots. The end of life organic material can be a fascinating media. Carved to follow the original growth of the tree (plant) and made to be of a form that is also utilitarian. Small stones and even insect borrowing begin the carving process. Nature through tropical storms and even hurricanes begin the harvesting , tidal flows create a refining of shape similar to rock tumbling. As an artist I merely respect all that and take the form to a stage where it seems to tell me it wants to go." Artwork purchased online may be picked up at the St. Augustine Art Association (22 Marine Street) on or after December 30 during regular gallery hours (Tuesday through Sunday, 12:00 - 4:00pm) or shipped to the buyer (ALL SHIPPING COSTS TO BE PAID BY THE BUYER).

  • “In Cunning I Draw My Sword Upon You”; King Lear 2:1

Photography; sublimated ink print on metal by Dale Peterson (20 in. x 15 in.)
"The Artist known as "Nature" paints with water vapor on air on the skies over Florida. Warm humid air from the Gulf of Mexico mixes layers upon layers with cooler air from the Atlantic, creating feathery frescoes of evaporation across the skies. Just as in an Art Gallery the "Artist" can gather a folio of these sublime works captured for immortality. Before every major weather event we are given a message through this Art Media and after each event we are also given a statement, maybe read as an apology. Mythology says this is the "rainbow". It is up to the Artist to learn to read this poetry." Artwork purchased online may be picked up at the St. Augustine Art Association (22 Marine Street) on or after December 30 during regular gallery hours (Tuesday through Sunday, 12:00 - 4:00pm) or shipped to the buyer (ALL SHIPPING COSTS TO BE PAID BY THE BUYER).
