Watercolor & Ink by Lori Sweet
"Lori Ann Sweet graduated from the School of Visual Arts, New York City, where she received her BFA and MFA degrees. For 20 years, she has illustrated for newspapers and prominent clients. Sweet has won several awards throughout North Florida, advocates for visual arts in the community, and promotes women artists.
Her unique process is influenced by the techniques and allegories of the old masters, especially Albrecht Dürer's line work and Claude Monet's colors and lighting. She embraces the challenge of intentionally evoking her stories and uses symbolism when painting plein air.
Moving to Florida in 2014 has opened opportunities for her to engage in arts organizations and pursue plein air painting. The fresh, lush colors have brightened the palette in her artwork."
Artwork purchased online can be picked up AFTER the exhibit ends on November 1, 2024 from the St. Johns County Administration Building (located at 500 San Sebastián View, St. Augustine, FL 32084).
