  • Young Lady with Flowers

Oil on canvas by Gayl Angela Masson (36in x 48in)
"Young Woman with Flowers - The irregular perspective is called "non-determinative perspective," a notion coined by the artist to suggest a bit of movement, like breathing. The landscape through the portico is adapted from the Renaissance workshop of Raphael, Portrait of a Young Man in Red (1505). The flowers are reminiscent of Botticelli’s flowers from Primavera (1480) with a touch of gold-leaf in the design. Story-wise, there is a wedding coming to this imagined village. The town is astir with preparations and this young lady, wistfully helpful to the bride, holds a bouquet. The interior mirror captures her pose and reflects the exterior light."

  • Walking between the worlds

Oil on canvas by Nikki Rakov (25in x 31.5in)
"Through my paintings, I seek to create a healing balm for ancestral wounds by invoking ancient stories, celebrating sacred space, and discovering magic that resides within the self and in nature. My artistic expression, rooted in the revival of rituals and invocations of Goddesses from ancient myth, seeks to reconnect with ancestors to explore a profound understanding of identity, spirituality and the enduring power of the divine feminine. In this painting, I am straddling two worlds, one a mundane place of here and now, and another in a space where we seek spiritual power, truth and a connection to a higher calling."
