  • The Cloak of Joseph: Salvador Mundi (Savior of the World)

Charcoal on toned paper, diptych by Pia Barlotta (29 in. x 38.5 in.)
"In the Christian Religion, two notable Biblical Characters share the name Joseph, Joseph of the Old Testament and Joseph of the New Testament. This piece compares the parallels between these two figures. In Genesis, Joseph cared for and provided bread (grain) to feed many during the great years of famine, hailing him the "Savior of the World". While Joseph, the foster father of Jesus, cared for and provided the Bread of Life, Christ Himself, the True Savior of the World." Artwork purchased online may be picked up at the St. Augustine Art Association (22 Marine Street) on or after January 27 during regular gallery hours (Tuesday through Sunday, 12:00 - 4:00pm) or shipped to the buyer (ALL SHIPPING COSTS TO BE PAID BY THE BUYER).

  • Saint or Sinner

Monotype, diptych by Pia Barlotta (36 in. x 18 in.)
"The suffering one endures in a lifetime is often attributed to their merit. It is commonly thought, the more suffering one endures, the more "sins" they have committed, and the less worthy they are to live a joyous, peaceful life. Saint or Sinner, addresses and criticizes this notion, calling into question its validity. Suffering is a universal experience, though its purpose, or lack thereof, is something unseen and unknown to man. Two men can live completely different lives, yet face the same fate. This piece allows the viewer to reflect upon suffering and all of its hidden complexities and purposes." Artwork purchased online may be picked up at the St. Augustine Art Association (22 Marine Street) on or after January 27 during regular gallery hours (Tuesday through Sunday, 12:00 - 4:00pm) or shipped to the buyer (ALL SHIPPING COSTS TO BE PAID BY THE BUYER).
