"My father-in-law was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in October of 2020. He held steady for a while, though small things could stymie him for hours, like cleaning his dishes or remembering when to eat. We moved him from independent living to Assisted Living a bit on the late side - he had lost a lot of weight (very thin to start with) and couldn't keep his pants up. As he marched down the hall ahead of us (we were moving his belongings), his pants slowly just dropped to the floor. He turned and looked at us with defiance and we knew he was in charge, even tho' his brain and body were not cooperating. We dubbed him Captain Commando Alzheimer's... and it stuck. I worked to do his defiance justice."
