  • Indian Lady Slipper

Watercolor on paper by Lori Ann Sweet (32in. x 26in.)
"Long Island was established first by the Northern Native Indians who occupied Long Island till the Bristish had gained momentum. Our family residency was partial in Native North American territory and occupied by the British. Our woods behind our home every year had wild Indian Lady Slippers Growing. Now this rare Orchid is on the extinctic list. It is a critically endangered species. How fortunate we were to have these in coming up in the woods."
