Swamp Cedar with Epoxy Resin by Dale Peterson
(8 in. x 12 in.)
"Only naturally shed driftwood is used. Hard carved. There is a form to be found in many pieces of naturally shed swamp forest trees and their branches or roots. The end of life organic material can be a fascinating media. Carved to follow the original growth of the tree (plant) and made to be of a form that is also utilitarian. Small stones and even insect borrowing begin the carving process. Nature through tropical storms and even hurricanes begin the harvesting , tidal flows create a refining of shape similar to rock tumbling. As an artist I merely respect all that and take the form to a stage where it seems to tell me it wants to go."
