  • 2023

Nails & glass mounted on plexi by Lillian (LC) Tobey (12 in. x 40 in.)
"2023, is several pieces of triangle glass that create a three-dimensional question mark. As an artist I question what 2023 might bring The triangles represent manifestation, enlightenment, revelation, and a higher perspective. It is often used to mark the cycles of growth that lead to a higher state of being. Spiritually, it represents a path towards enlightenment or connection to an omnipresent being. Energetically, triangles direct energy and power in the direction which they point. The glass glitter, glow, shine & sparkle is represented of my feelings of positivity for 2023." • Turtles in Space Redux (Study)

Acrylic by Vanessa Bates (25.6 in. x 31.5 in.)
"Sea turtles in space surfing a nebula wave. One of the hazards of the t-shirt business is being requested to create one of eight to ten tropes prevalent in one's local region. In my area, sea turtles and space scenes are frequent requests. Since specializing in mixing the visually ironic is my forte, mixing the two seems only natural. This piece is a study for a larger piece in progress." • Pieces of Me

Mixed Media by Kathe Kokolias (12 in. x 12 in.)
"I enjoy working with collage because it allows me to be spontaneous and doesn't require that I have a set plan. That being said, there definitely is discernment involved as fas as being aware of composition and choosing a palette. Since moving to Florida in 2015, I have been drawn towards various shades of blues, especially aqua, and bright orange. red and yellow. Although as much as I love this medium, I admit that it has its drawbacks; I am unable to throw out even the smallest piece of paper and I am constantly looking for objects on the beach or wherever I walk. . My husband keeps an eye out for me and knows better than to toss junk mail which could play a key role in a future piece."
