About the Instructor
After graduating with honors in English Literature and Spanish from Auburn University, Rosamond Parrish lived in Hawaii and Mexico, both of which inspired her to begin studying watercolors. She studied in Maine with legendary instructor Edgar Whitney and went on to teach for over 25 years at the Jacksonville Art Museum and in St. Augustine.
In 1972, she became a Signature Life Member of the Florida Watercolor Society, and in 1982 founded the Jacksonville Watercolor Society. She served on the Board of the St. Augustine Art Association and has won many awards for drawing and painting. The Lightner Museum honored her work in 2023 with a solo show, “On the Road.” She has received the ROWITA (Recognizing Outstanding Women in the Arts) award. Her books, “Lincolnville, A Sketchbook Journal of St. Augustine’s Historic Neighborhood” and “St Augustine, A Sketchbook” (Published by Pineapple Press) feature her paintings and drawings and history of the area. She paints in her home studio in St. Augustine, and often teaches classes in “Travel Sketching.”
